A 26-year-old female presents to her GP with mild breast pain and discharge from the areola region

A 26-year-old female presents to her GP with mild breast pain and discharge from the areola region. She recently had breast reduction surgery, for cosmetic reasons, at a clinic abroad for a very low price. The pain is controlled by regular paracetamol. She has no past medical history. Her family history includes chronic pain syndrome, which her mother has. She smokes around 15 cigarettes a day but does not drink alcohol. On examination, there is a complete breakdown of the breast wound around the surgical site, which appears erythematous and with pus coming out.
