The Medibuddy Live Teach the Teacher Course also help you meet the formal teaching criteria outlined in UK specialty applications that specifically require a live course, such as IMT. (Check the person specification for your own specialty to confirm eligibility.)
Formal training in teaching on a two-day course remains a CCT requirement for most specialities. However, for some training posts like IMT, a one-day synchronous course (minimum 6 hours) now earns applications points. It's best to review the specific requirements for your specialty in the current person specification.
Our Teach the Teacher courses are fully accredited by the CPD Certification Service, making it valid for CCT, interviews and appraisals. You can find our CPD registration here.
Many deaneries now have teaching courses on their approved study budget course lists. If you are a UK doctor on a national training programme (e.g. foundation training, ST/CT training etc.), you may, therefore, be able to claim the cost of the Medibuddy Teach the Teacher course from your study budget.

What is a Live Teach the Teacher Course?
A live TTT course gives doctors and other healthcare professionals the opportunity to explore educational theory and teaching techniques in a structured, interactive format. Delivered in real time, it helps you develop your confidence as a presenter and equips you with the tools to teach effectively in clinical and academic settings. You'll learn how people learn, how to structure your teaching, and how to give meaningful feedback.
How is the on-demand course different from the live version?
The on-demand course is fully self-paced, making it ideal if you want to fit your learning around a busy schedule. You can complete the material at a time and pace that works for you.
In contrast, our live courses take place over either one or two scheduled days and are delivered in real time. You'll take part in live sessions, interact with tutors, and learn alongside others. They also include access to the full on-demand course, giving you the flexibility to review the material at your convenience.
Are Train the Trainer courses the same as medical teaching courses?
Not quite. While “Train the Trainer” courses are often found in non-clinical settings and focus on general workplace teaching, medical teaching courses, like Teach the Teacher, are tailored to the unique demands of healthcare education. If you're teaching in a clinical or academic medical setting, it's best to choose a course that focuses specifically on medical education.
How can I find a Teach the Teacher course?
Many in-person Teach the Teacher courses are run in major cities across the UK. You can usually find them with a quick online search, such as “Teach the Teacher course near me.” These face-to-face sessions may appeal if you prefer learning in a physical classroom.
If you're looking for greater flexibility or don’t live near a course venue, an online option may suit you better. Virtual courses like ours can be more affordable and allow you to complete the content from home, at your own pace.
Who should take this course?
This TTT course is aimed at healthcare professionals who are involved in teaching or want to improve their teaching skills. That includes doctors, nurses, physician associates, and other clinicians.
It’s a great option if you're thinking about taking on formal teaching responsibilities or want to work toward roles such as teaching fellow, clinical supervisor, or medical school faculty member.
Do these courses count for specialty training applications?
Yes, our Teach the Teacher courses can be used as evidence for specialty training applications. Requirements vary by specialty, so we always recommend checking your person specification before booking.
Do I need a live course for IMT applications, or is the on-demand course enough?
IMT requires a minimum of 6 hours of live synchronous teaching, as outlined in IMT training requirements for the training in teaching domain. We recommend checking the latest IMT person specification before choosing your course.
Which Teach the Teacher course should I choose for an IMT application?
If you are applying to IMT, the one-day live course is the most commonly selected option as it meets the minimum formal training in teaching course requirement. All course formats include the same core teaching content, with live options also providing synchronous teaching experience.
What is the difference between the one-day and two-day live course for IMT?
Both live courses include synchronous teaching and access to the on-demand course, and both meet the minimum IMT requirement of 6 hours of live teaching.
The one-day course is designed to meet this requirement in a condensed format, while the two-day course also meets the requirement and provides additional time for practice, feedback, and deeper development of teaching skills.
