A 13 year old boy has stopped playing football over the past couple of months. He complains of pain below his right knee whilst running. The pain has been waking him up at night. He does not remember any recent injury that might have caused the pain. He also has developed a new limp. An x-ray of the symptomatic knee shows a bone tumour with a periosteal reaction and wide zone of transition. This is consistent with a possible osteosarcoma. You are his GP. What is the next best step?
