A 21-year-old male with Trisomy 21 presents to his GP after discovering a mass on his left testicle

A 21-year-old male with Trisomy 21 presents to his GP after discovering a mass on his left testicle. He is referred to urology and on investigation by ultrasound, the mass is suspicious for a germ cell tumour. Blood tests show that he has high serum levels of alkaline phosphatase and lactate dehydrogenase, with low levels of alpha-fetoprotein and B-HCG, which is suggestive of a seminoma.
