A 17-year old female comes for a diabetic follow up appointment. She was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) two years ago and is compliant with her insulin injections before meals. Reviewing the patient’s blood sugar levels revealed that post-prandial blood glucose was consistently 8-11mmol/l, therefore, it was recommended to commence an insulin that does not produce an observable peak in serum insulin concentration.
