A 24-year-old woman attends a GP appointment. She is a nursing student and has recently started her first rotation in A&E. She has been struggling whilst on placement, describing feeling “constantly worried about making a mistake” – and when she thinks about the thought of going into placement, she feels breathless, panicky, and can feel her heart “beating out of my chest”. Initially, this only affected her on placement, but now she feels like this constantly – including when at home and socialising with friends. There is no warning for the symptoms. This has been affecting her for around six weeks.
