A group of researchers are attempting to establish if a new imaging finding is associated with the final diagnosis of MELAS. Patients who were undergoing MRI imaging for suspected MELAS were included in this study. The results of the MRI were recorded along with the final genetic analysis for each patient, confirming the diagnosis of MELAS. A total of 15 patients were included in this study.
