The obstetric registrar has phoned the infectious diseases registrar for some advice.

The obstetric registrar has phoned the infectious diseases registrar for some advice. A 28-year-old female who is 24 weeks pregnant stays with her husband and son. Her son experienced fevers and rigours for three days and was given paracetamol. He developed a widespread red papulo-vesicular rash along his legs and trunk.

She has not had varicella in the past, and she has not had any vaccinations against varicella.

Which advice should be given, assuming the results will take two days to be released?
