A 32-year-old man presents to the acute medical unit with treatment-resistant seizures. His wife recalls that he had seizures as a child, but this had resolved following treatment. On examination, several red papules spread across his cheeks and nose. Small flesh-coloured lumps are also seen along his fingernails. Several flesh-coloured patches with an irregular surface are noted along his back. MRI of his brain confirms the presence of subependymal giant cell astrocytoma.
Given his likely diagnosis, what is the probability that his children will develop this condition if his wife remains well?
