A 23-year-old male has come into ED suffering with acute onset chest pain and palpitations.

A 23-year-old male has come into ED suffering with acute onset chest pain and palpitations. He also felt short of breath and a bit overwhelmed by the size of the crowd. He had been watching football with his friends and this had come on suddenly. His friends had called 111 who had advised them to come to ED an hour ago. The pain has not spread anywhere, he has had no sweating and he had not been doing anything particularly strenuous when it came on. He has had one similar episode of this before but this settled by itself after about half an hour. Other than this he is well in himself and has no past medical history except for psoriasis. He is currently a student studying for finals which is quite stressful, and he quite often works through the night to finish his assignments. There is no family history of sudden cardiac death. He has no drug allergies.

On examination:

His pulse is tachycardic but regular and his ECG is normal.

There are no abnormalities on his blood tests, including troponin levels.

Please prescribe an appropriate treatment for his symptoms.
