A 22-year-old man presents to his general practice with gradually worsening hearing loss

A 22-year-old man presents to his general practice with gradually worsening hearing loss on his left side. He has also noticed that he has been experiencing vertigo and tinnitus. 2 thickened plaque-like lesions are also noted along both his arms. An audiogram showed bilateral sensorineural hearing loss, which was worse on the left. He notes that his mother also had hearing problems at a young age, requiring brain surgery to manage this. Histology of her tumour at the time revealed a schwannoma as the underlying cause.

What is the underlying diagnosis for his presentation?
