A 29-year-old man is followed up in the renal clinic following his renal transplant
A 29-year-old man is followed up in the renal clinic following his renal transplant following renal failure during his adolescence. He has experienced microscopic haematuria since age six and has been seen by the paediatric renal team for chronic renal dysfunction throughout his childhood. Renal biopsies have shown splitting of the lamina densa at the glomerular basement membrane. He also reports that his grandfather required a renal transplant during his teenage years for similar reasons. He currently has a hearing aid in situ due to bilateral sensorineural hearing loss.
What is the likely underlying diagnosis that has resulted in his renal transplant?
