A 23-year-old male presents to the acute medical unit with colicky abdominal pain and vomiting. He has not managed to open his bowels for the past two days and started vomiting approximately 24 hours ago. An urgent CT scan was organised, and an intussusception of his small bowel was performed. Pathology of the section revealed a hamartomatous polyp as the underlying cause. The patient was examined in the clinic, revealing that several brown macules were across his hands’ buccal mucosa, lips and palmar surfaces. He recalls that his father had similar skin lesions with multiple polyps seen in the small bowel on capsule endoscopy.
