A 52-year-old man presents to his GP practice for his annual diabetic review. His diabetes has been well controlled over 10 years, since his diagnosis, with the use of metformin and lifestyle advice. During his review, the nurse carries out a Q-RISK Score which was 15%. His most recent HbA1c was slightly higher at 57 mmol/mol, compared to his previous reading of 49 mmol/mol. They discuss starting another medication to achieve better glycaemic control. He has no other relevant past medical history and his current medications include metformin and PRN paracetamol.

Please prescribe one additional anti-diabetic medication that would be most suitable for this patient.
