A 60-year-old woman presents with intermittent episodes of left lower quadrant abdominal pain for the past 6 months. She has a history of high blood pressure, controlled with medication. She reports occasional constipation but no other gastrointestinal symptoms. On examination, she exhibits mild tenderness in the left lower quadrant without signs of peritonitis. A colonoscopy reveals multiple diverticula in the descending colon but no signs of inflammation. Her diet is low in fibre.
