A 45-year-old male presents with non-healing ulcers and abscesses on his scalp
A 45-year-old male presents with non-healing ulcers and abscesses on his scalp. He has been suffering from this condition for the last 3 months. He had a hair transplant in Turkey 4 months ago. He has used flucloxacillin, but this provided no benefit. There is no history of diabetes or any immune deficiency. One of the abscesses has been aspirated and sent for culture. No growth was observed for 48 hours, but on the clinician’s request, the culture was incubated for an extended time. A growth was noted on the 10th day. It showed acid fast bacilli. What is the causative organism?
