A 22-year-old female reports a one month history of right-sided stabbing cheek pain

A 22-year-old female reports a one month history of right-sided stabbing cheek pain. The pain occurs multiple times a day and lasts for about a minute each time. She says it feels like an electric shock across her face. It usually occurs when she is putting on her make-up or washing her face. She has started taking regular paracetamol but that has not resulted in any improvement. She has no past medical history and the last time she saw her GP was 2 years ago when she developed numbness over the left side of her body which resolved after a week with no treatment. On further questioning, she reports she sometimes experiences blurred vision in her right eye but that hasn’t happened for a few months now. Her neurological examination is normal. Blood tests including a full blood count, renal profile, vitamin B12 and thyroid profile are all normal.
