A 60-year-old woman presents to A&E with facial droop which she noticed when she woke up this morning. She has a history of hypertension, hypercholesterolaemia and diabetes. On examination, she is alert and comfortable. She has facial droop affecting the left hand side of her face and her eye is watering. She is unable to lift her left eyebrow when asked and when she closes her eyes, her left eye is still partly visible. She has recently been well. Other examinations of the nervous system, ears, nose and throat are unremarkable. What management should be initiated?
