Definition of TLS

TLS must be diagnosed through biochemical tests. It can be classified as laboratory or clinical TLS:

Laboratory TLS Clinical TLS
Two or more of:

  • Hyperuricaemia ( >475 µmol/L)
  • Hyperphosphataemia (> 1.5 mmol/L)
  • Hyperkalaemia (> 6.0 mmol/L)
  • Hypocalcaemia (< 1.75 mmol/L)
 Laboratory TLS AND one or more of:

  • AKI
  • Arrhythmia
  • Seizure
  • Sudden death
