Complications

The main complications of PH are due to hypertension and include increased risk of cerebrovascular accident, myocardial infarction, heart failure, atrial fibrillation and chronic kidney failure. Excessive aldosterone can result in myocardial fibrosis, but this is ameliorated with treatment with aldosterone antagonists.
