A 66-year-old woman has bowel obstruction secondary to extensive ovarian metastases.

A 66-year-old woman has bowel obstruction secondary to extensive ovarian metastases. She is being treated palliatively for this at home. She has significant nausea and is vomiting large amounts secondary to her obstruction. She would like to leave her house to attend her grandson’s christening. Her Hospice At Home team have offered her Octreotide to help manage her symptoms. What is Octreotide?
