A 71-year-old ex-army officer presents to the dermatology outpatient clinic after being referred from the GP regarding some scaly patches on his forehead. The patches are discrete, have only slowly increased in size over the years and occasional crust over. A histology report mentions dysplastic changes and proliferation in the intra-epidermal keratinocytes. There is also a degree of hyperkeratosis and prominent solar elastosis in the superficial dermis.
