A 12-year-old boy is brought to the emergency department by his father who is very concerned about a rash that has appeared on his son’s buttocks. He mentions that his son had recently attended the emergency department following abdominal pain and blood in the stool, which settled with conservative management. On examination, the rash is raised and purpuric but not tender or erythematous. You do a series of investigations and find low haemoglobin on blood tests and microscopic haematuria on a urine dipstick.
