A 14-year-old boy is referred from his General Practitioner with a lump in his neck. The patient has recently had a cough but feels well in himself now. The patient has noticed the lump has grown since his cold. On examination it is not erythematous or tender on palpation. The lump is smooth and is located in the anterior triangle of the neck. It does not move when the patient protrudes their tongue or swallows. The patient has not lost any weight recently and there are no signs of hepatosplenomegaly. Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) is performed on the lump.
