A term infant is born with a significantly low birthweight

A term infant is born with a significantly low birthweight. She is noticed to be jaundiced at birth, and to have a small head, and small facial features. The serum bilirubin is measured, and a high level of conjugated bilirubin is detected. The infant has an enlarged liver and spleen on examination.
