A 35-year-old man has a mild pain in his right scrotum

A 35-year-old man has a mild pain in his right scrotum. On self-examination, he notices a small, soft mass at the top of the testis. He visits his GP who examines him further to find a small, soft, smooth mass at the head of the epididymis that transilluminates. The rest of the testicular examination is normal. The GP makes a diagnosis of a spermatocele and explains to the man that it is benign and requires no treatment other than pain control.
