A 16-year-old student presented to the GP with 3 days of sore throat, fever and lethargy. She denied any breathless, diarrhoea, chesty cough, runny nose or abdominal pain. No history of recent travel and no significant past medical history. She mentioned that her boyfriend had the same symptoms 3 weeks ago but they have now resolved completely. Physical examination revealed generalised lymphadenopathy, raised body temperature of 37.7 degree Celsius and splenomegaly. Mouth examination revealed inflamed pharynx and bilateral tonsil enlargement with no exudates as well as no uvula deviation. What is the most likely diagnosis at this point?
