A 76-year-old female presents with progressive hearing loss over the past 6 months

A 76-year-old female presents with progressive hearing loss over the past 6 months. She describes being able to maintain one-to-one conversations but tends to struggle when in noisy environments with multiple sources of sounds. On examination of the tympanic membrane, there are scanty amounts of wax in both ears. You refer her for pure tone audiometry which shows bilateral sensorineural hearing loss, particularly of higher frequency sounds.
