A 39 year old gentleman with a history of psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis presents to A+E

A 39 year old gentleman with a history of psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis presents to A+E with a 2 day history of loose, bloody stools. After urgent resuscitation and stabilisation, a flexible sigmoidoscopy was performed. The report indicated “widespread ulceration with polyp appearance” and “inflammatory cell infiltration of the lamina propria”.
