An 83-year-old man is diagnosed with a chronic subdural haematoma following a history of headaches and seizures, after a fall several weeks ago. He undergoes burr-hole drainage of the haematoma, and then following post-operative recovery, is admitted to a geriatrics ward for further management. A few days after this admission, he becomes febrile, complaining of a worsening headache and pain in his neck.
