A middle-aged male came to hospital two months ago with chest pain following ingestion of food. The only medication he takes is occasional ibuprofen for chronic back pain and his only allergy is to penicillin. A gastroscopy reveals peptic ulcer disease. He is tested for Helicobacter pylori which comes back as positive. He is given a two-month course of full-dose proton pump inhibitor and is seen in clinic for follow up and H.pylori eradication therapy with metronidazole and a second antibiotic.
