A 60-year-old presents to A&E. Earlier that day he suddenly lost the vision in his left eye, a feeling he describes as like “a black curtain was being pulled down”. This lasted for around 10 minutes and has now resolved. A CT head is done, with no obvious abnormality. The patient is started on high dose aspirin for the treatment of a TIA. The patient self-attended to A&E, driving in his own car.
What further advice should be given to the patient prior to discharge?
