A 20-year-old man attends a GP appointment. He reports that he has increasingly suffered with feeling overly worried

A 20-year-old man attends a GP appointment. He reports that he has increasingly suffered with feeling overly worried and stressed over the last year for no particular reason. He describes feeling apprehensive about various situations –  such as his health, job, family, and driving. As well as feeling “worried in my head”, he also can feel agitated and restless, finding it difficult to relax. His GP asks him to complete a GAD-7 questionnaire, on which he scores an 8, consistent with a mild generalised anxiety disorder (GAD).
