A 26-year-old lady presents having just delivered her firstborn via an elective lower segment caesarean

A 26-year-old lady presents having just delivered her firstborn via an elective lower segment caesarean section two days ago. The baby’s APGAR scores were found to be 9 and 9 and both 1 and 5 minutes respectively. Both mother and child were discharged home well on day 2. At the neonatal clinic follow-up on day 3, the mother complains of pain and bleeding from the vaginal area that started this morning. Examination revealed a tender and palpable uterus. She is also found to have a temperature of 38.6 degrees Celsius.
