A 60-year-old woman presents with severe lower abdominal pain, abdominal distension, and vomiting for the past 24 hours. She has a past medical history of chronic constipation. She appears dehydrated, and her abdomen is distended and tender. An abdominal X-ray shows a large air-fluid level in the shape of an inverted “U”.
