A 70-year-old patient was recently diagnosed with a UTI, which was treated with antibiotics. She lives alone, but her niece does her shopping and helps with housekeeping. A follow-up urine sample still shows signs of infection. Upon questioning, the patient admits she didn’t take the antibiotics because her niece told her they were unnecessary.
