A 19-year-old university student presents with a sore throat, fever, and fatigue for the past week.

A 19-year-old university student presents with a sore throat, fever, and fatigue for the past week. He also reports swollen glands in his neck and mild abdominal discomfort. Examination reveals enlarged tonsils with exudate, palpable cervical lymphadenopathy, and mild splenomegaly. The monospot test is positive. There is no airway obstruction, haemolytic anaemia, or thrombocytopenia.
