A 25-year-old woman presents with a 24-hour history of worsening right lower quadrant abdominal pain. The pain initially started around her navel but has since localised to the right lower quadrant. She also reports a loss of appetite and a low-grade fever. On physical examination, there is tenderness in the right lower quadrant with rebound tenderness. She denies any urinary symptoms or previous similar episodes.
