A 32-year-old woman had persistent and severe worries about flying on a plane. She flew over a year ago when the plane had to make an emergency landing. Consequently, she has avoided flying as she keeps reliving what happened previously and is scared she will die. She has images of this every time she sees a plane and when she gets on the plane her heart begins to race and she becomes distressed every time the plane jerks with turbulence. She also has somatic symptoms and tries to avoid flying on a plane.
