A 69 year old man presents with a 3 day history of fever, headache and confusion. A CT head is normal. A lumbar puncture is done with the following results:

White cell count	600 cells/µL – neutrophils 95% (normal 0-5)
Protein	142 mg/dL (normal < 45)
CSF glucose	1.1 mmol/L (normal 2.5-4.4)
Serum glucose	9.0 mmol/L
