A 9-month-old baby boy is brought to the clinic with a history of sudden onset intermittent abdominal pain for the past day. During these episodes, he cries intensely and draws his legs up towards his abdomen. His mother also reports that he vomited twice and had a bowel movement that looked like “red currant jelly.” Between episodes, the baby seems tired but normal. On examination, he is afebrile, and a sausage-shaped mass is palpable in the right upper quadrant of his abdomen.
