Positive feedback mechanism

The action of one hormone either directly or indirectly stimulates the secretion of another hormone. It is self-reinforcing. It is more uncommon than a negative feedback mechanism. For example, luteinising hormone (LH) levels rise just prior to ovulation due to the positive effect of oestrogen on the anterior pituitary gland.
