Definition and prevalence
Male sexual dysfunction includes erectile dysfunction (ED), reduced libido and ejaculatory disorders. It is a common condition: 2 in 5 men in the UK experience ED and prevalence increases significantly between 40-70 years. As male arousal and sexual function are mediated by the interaction of hormonal, neurological, vascular and psychogenic factors, the causes of male sexual dysfunction are broad, and a comprehensive clinical history and examination are essential.
