Complications

Patients with AS are at an increased risk of developing spinal fractures, cauda equina syndrome and cardiovascular disease. Patients can also suffer from adverse effects from treatment, e.g., infection, immunosuppression and malignancy resulting from long-term use of biological DMARDs.
