A 21-year-old is brought to her GP by her housemate. She is known to have a social anxiety disorder for which she has undergone self-facilitated CBT. Recently, her housemate has noticed her becoming more anxious and she is finding it difficult to leave her house to go to university or work. She is worried about feeling embarrassed or anxious whilst being outside, by herself, where she wouldn’t know what to do with herself. She rarely leaves the house now, which is affecting her studies, ability to shop and her social life. She is diagnosed with agoraphobia.
