A 34-year-old nurse has just experienced a needle stick injury and is worried that she will contract hepatitis B. She had accidentally stuck herself with a cannula. Basic first aid had been carried out. The patient is known to have hepatitis B and is not on treatment. The patient’s recent blood also shows detectable levels of HBsAg and HBeAg. The nurse completed her vaccination and obtained a booster shot two weeks ago as her antiHB levels post-primary course were at 90mIU/ml.

What is the best recommendation to provide to the nurse?
