A 41-year-old female presents to the acute medical unit with PR bleeding and abdominal pains. Her abdominal pain is generalised but worse along the right side of her abdomen. Her blood tests showed mild microcytic anaemia, but other results were expected. She notes that her grandfather, mother and uncle all suffered from colorectal cancers diagnosed at 45, 52 and 49, respectively. Her aunt was recently diagnosed with endometrial cancer at 52 years old.
She underwent an endoscopy, which revealed four polypoid lesions within her caecum and ascending colon. Histology has revealed that two lesions were adenomas, while two others displayed mucinous tumours with tumour-infiltrating lymphocytes and had poorly differentiated cells.
