A 51-year-old man attends A&E due to the development of complete right-sided weakness, facial droop and dysarthria. These symptoms started 1 hour ago and he called for an ambulance immediately. He is obese with type 2 diabetes. His only medication is metformin and he has no allergies.
On examination, his BP is 138/58, HR is 84 and regular. ECG shows normal sinus rhythm. Examination confirms the presenting symptoms.
Blood tests in A&E reveal no abnormalities. A CT Head has shown no intracranial haemorrhage.
When it comes to initial management, what is the best approach?
