A 54-year-old man is brought to A&E. Five weeks ago, he was admitted and treated for acute pancreatitis, and discharged home around 3 weeks ago. He had been recovering well, although he felt the pain from his pancreatitis “never really went away”. Over the past week, he has developed worsening upper abdominal pain and lost his appetite. He is worried he might have pancreatitis again. On examination, his abdomen is mildly tender, and a palpable mass is felt in the epigastric region. His observations are stable.
