A 67-year-old ex-smoker has recently undergone investigation for a T3N2M0 small cell lung carcinoma of the right upper lobe. He presents with a 48-hour history of increasing chest discomfort, dyspnoea, and upper limb swelling. He is currently being planned for radical concurrent chemoradiotherapy which is due to commence next week. He is haemodynamically stable and has no oxygen requirement. A further CT chest confirms evolving superior vena cava obstruction (SVCO).
